Speaking at the achievement of this massive milestone, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, “As the pioneers of EVs in the country, the onus of ensuring successful adoption was on us. With well calibrated product mix, strong consumer facing initiatives, we have been able to address barriers to EV adoption. We created an entire EV ecosystem with Tata Group companies to provide simple, cost effective solutions for our customers.”
He further added, “Celebrating 50,000th EVs in India is a strong testament to how our portfolio is resonating with people across the country. EVs are offering a practical solution to problems of rising fuel price and worsening pollution. Customers are now ready to welcome EVs and we are thrilled to witness the transition from early adopters to now EVs becoming a mainstream choice for Indian customers.”

In other Tata EV-related news, recently the company received an order for delivering 2,000 XPRES T EVs to one of the earliest EV-only – ride-hailing platforms in the Delhi NCR region – Evera. Evera is a provider of asset-light EV taxi services to clients in the B2C and B2B markets. The EV cab aggregator has clocked more than eight million green KMs across Delhi NCR in a short amount of time since its launch.
The XPRES-T EV is the first car under the new XPRES brand, which Tata Motors announced in July 2021 specifically for fleet clients. There are two range choices available for the XPRES-T electric sedan: 213km and 165km (ARAI certified range under test conditions).
