Three new Delhi High Court (HC) judges on Thursday took oath of office, taking the total strength of the court to 47. The three new judges, namely, Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, Anish Dayal and Amit Sharma were administered the oath of office by Delhi HC acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi.
On Wednesday, the notification for the appointment of Justice Kuarav was issued. On the other hand, the notifications for the appointment were issued by the Central Government on May 31 this year.
With three new judges taking oath in Delhi HC today, the total strength in the court has reached 47. The sanctioned strength of the high court is 60.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav has been transferred from Madhya Pradesh HC to Delhi HC, ANI said in a report. On the other hand, Amit Sharma has been appointed as an additional judge of the high court for a period of two years.
In November last year, the names of Advocate Anish Dayal and Amit Sharma were recommended by the Supreme court collegium for elevation as Judges of the Delhi HC.
On May 18, nine judges had taken oath of oath in the Delhi High Court. Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi had administered the oath of office to Justices Tara Vitasta Ganju, Mini Pushkarna, Vikas Mahajan, Tushar Rao Gedela, Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora, Sachin Datta, Amit Mahajan, Gaurang Kanth and Saurabh Banerjee.
