Delhi weather today: Minimum temperature at season's lowest; AQI to remain 'poor' – The Indian Express

Delhi’s minimum temperature dipped to 6.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the lowest minimum temperature recorded so far this winter at the Safdarjung weather observatory.
This is two degrees below normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature on Saturday was 8.3 degrees Celsius.
In 2017, the lowest minimum temperature in December was 6.3 degrees Celsius, only a notch below the minimum recorded Sunday. The lowest minimum temperature for the month in 2016 was 6.6 degrees Celsius, while the corresponding figure for 2018 was 2.6 degrees Celsius, and 2019 recorded 2.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the minimum temperature on Monday is likely to be 8 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is likely to settle at 24 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi stood in the ‘poor’ category on Sunday, with an AQI of 254, going by the Central Pollution Control Board bulletin. The 24-hour average AQI on Saturday was 281. AQI between 201 and 300 is considered ‘poor,’ while a figure that stands between 301 and 400 is categorised as ‘very poor.’
The SAFAR forecast indicates the wind speed is likely to be low to moderate on Monday and Tuesday. The air quality is likely to be ‘poor’ in the afternoon, and in the lower end of the ‘very poor’ category at night and early in the morning, according to the forecast.
