The Delhi Police have arrested the last accused in connection with an incident in which a 20-year-old woman was allegedly abducted, gang-raped, and paraded by a group of people in east Delhi’s Kasturba Nagar in January, officials said on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Mukesh, they said. (PTI)

Delhi records maximum temperature at 40.8 degrees C, heatwave predicted in coming days
The maximum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory — Delhi’s base station — settled at 40.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and a heatwave will see it soaring to 44 degrees Celsius by Thursday. Several parts of the national capital recorded their maximum temperature above the 42-degree mark, with Najafgarh being the warmest place in the city at 42.6 degrees Celsius. (PTI)

DTC bus catches fire
A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus caught fire on Tuesday afternoon on Vikas Marg area, officials said. The fire department received information about the blaze around 2.25 pm following which a fire tender was rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The fire was brought under control at 2.50pm and no one was injured in the incident, they added. (PTI)

Delhi HC has directed the AIIMS nurses union to ensure that the employees including nurses who are on strike join duties. The court has listed the matter for tomorrow morning at 10.30pm. A petition was moved by AIIMS administration against the ongoing strike by nurses. (ANI)

Top reward carrying gangster held in Chattapur
A gangster carrying the highest reward by the Delhi Police was arrested along with three of his accomplices from Chhatarpur area, police said on Tuesday. Shahrukh, 28, was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh and was involved in 10 criminal cases of murder, attempt to murder, and extortion, among others, police said. (PTI)
Delhi riots: Police oppose Umar Khalid’s bail plea in UAPA case
The Delhi Police has opposed before the Delhi High Court a plea of former JNU student Umar Khalid seeking bail in a case under the stringent UAPA for alleged conspiracy behind the 2020 riots in Delhi, saying the narratives sought to be created by him cannot be looked into as his defence at the this stage. The Delhi government will develop four world-class city forests in the national capital where people can spend a good time in the lap of nature, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Tuesday. There are 19 city forests in Delhi, of which four have been selected for further development.

Man stabs addict brother to death in outer Delhi
Fed up of his alcohol addiction, a 32-year-old man allegedly killed his brother stabbing him with a knife in chest in outer Delhi’s Ranhola area, police said. The accused, Sujit, is a resident of Baprola Vihar and has been arrested for the alleged murder. (PTI)
Uttarakhand: Tourist from Delhi drowns in Ganga
A tourist from Delhi drowned while bathing in the Ganga in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh on Tuesday, police said. The State Disaster Response Force’s deep divers found his body stuck in between rocks around 25 feet under water, hours after the incident. The deceased was identified as Ankush Joss, a resident of East Gokulpuri, Delhi. His family has been informed. (ANI)

Woman killed, husband injured over minor dispute in southwest Delhi
A 45-year-old woman was stabbed to death while her husband was injured following a quarrel with their neighbour over minor issue in southwest Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Tuesday morning, police said. The deceased, identified as Shyamkala got sharp knife injuries over her neck while her husband Ramesh Kumar who is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital had injuries over his left arm. (PTI)
