Meat shops in several markets in south Delhi, including at INA and at Jor Bagh, remained shut on Tuesday, a day after SDMC Mayor Mukesh Suryan said they will not be allowed to open during Navratri till April 11. 29-year-old raped in Gurugram, accused absconding
A 29-year-old woman was raped allegedly by a man living in her locality while she was alone at her home here, police said on Tuesday. An FIR was registered at Bhondsi police station on Tuesday based on the woman’s complaint even as the accused has gone absconding, they said. (PTI)

ED attaches assets of family, firms of Delhi minister Satyendar Jain
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday said it has attached properties worth Rs 4.81 crore of the family and companies “beneficially owned and controlled” by Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in connection with a money-laundering probe. Doubling money: MBA grad held for duping people
An MBA graduate was arrested in the national capital for cheating people on the pretext of doubling their money in no time, an official said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Rajat Aggarwal (25), has completed MBA (Finance and Marketing) from Chaudhary Devilal University, Sirsa in 2021 and is also a budding singer. Furnishing details, DCP Sameer Sharma said a case under section 420 of IPC was registered in Cyber Police Station Outer District, Delhi on the complaint of a woman complainant, who alleged that one Instagram ID ‘divya_garg_2’ contacted her regarding doubling her money and later induced and cheated her of Rs 1,70,000. The payments were made through the UPI mode and in three transactions i.e Rs 1,00,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000.
Months on, DJB quick fix fails to clean Malviya Nagar’s dirty water
Scores of residents in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area are distraught because of the supply of dirty water in the past few months. They claimed that despite several complaints to Delhi Jal Board and other authorities, there has been no respite. “Since last November, I have made several complaints to DJB and to lieutenant governor Anil Baijal about the problem,” said Sanjiv Rai, B Block resident in Malviya Nagar. “The officials come to inspect and carry out a temporary fix that lasts just a few days before the water again becomes dirty and smelly. Filtration is now a recurring cost because the filter candle has to be changed frequently. But while the water becomes clearer, the odor does not disappear. ”
Delhi: Man shoots at younger brother over property dispute, held
A 37-year-old man was injured after being shot at by his elder brother over a property dispute here, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday in Welcome Market in northeast Delhi, they said. Sumit Verma, a tailor, was near his shop when his brother, Amit Verma (40), came there and an argument ensued between the two, they said. Moments later, Amit Verma whipped out a pistol and fired three rounds at his brother. According to police, Amit Verma has been arrested.
13-year-old kidnaps, murders 8-year-old over mobile phone
A 13-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped and murdered an eight-year-old after he refused to give him his mobile phone. The incident took place in Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on Sunday. Police said the victim had earlier also accused the 13-year-old of stealing his mother’s money. The boy has been sent to an observation home.
Petrol at Rs 104.61 per litre in Delhi
The state-run oil marketing companies on Tuesday raised key transport fuel prices for the 13th time in the last 15 days. Consequently, in the past 15 days, petrol prices have increased by Rs 9.40 per litre in the national capital. These prices were revised for the very first time on March 22 after a gap of more than four months. On Monday, the price of petrol and diesel in New Delhi were increased by 80 paise per litre. As per pump prices, petrol now costs Rs 104.61 per litre and diesel Rs 95.87 per litre in the national capital.
